SUMMARY:Natural Mindfulness Wellbeing Walk
DESCRIPTION:Natural Mindfulness Walks bring you both the benefits of being outside\, and of mindfulness. They encourage a closer connection to nature\, which brings its own special benefits\, reducing blood pressure and anxiety and promoting creativity and sleep. \nThis walk will be guided Helen from Make it Wild. As well as being a medical doctor\, Helen is a qualified and experienced Natural Mindfulness Guide. \nWe will spend one and a half hours walking gently and slowly through our Ancient Woodlands and meadows. We will pause for guided mindfulness experiences. We will talk about the changes in nature that you can see as you walk. Helen will introduce elements of the wisdom of our ancestors about the changing seasons and the energy we can sense from nature if we pause and notice. \nWhat previous participants of our Natural Mindfulness Walks said:\n“I completely lost track of time – I thoroughly enjoyed every moment”\n“It was so wonderful to ‘be’ in the woods\, rather than concentrating on ‘doing’ all the time” \nPlease note that this event follows on from Where the Mind Grows – Wild Work Spaces\, and Green Arcana – Natural Craft Workshop\, at the same venue. It can be booked with those or independently. It would make a lovely end to the day!

SUMMARY:Book Wilding Online - Infinite Wonder
DESCRIPTION:Come and join us online for the next in our Climate Action North Spring/Summer series of Book Wilding events. \nWe’re excited to welcome Mike Pratt\, author of Infinite Wonder who will be talking about his book\, telling us the story behind it and also reading from the book. \nABOUT THE AUTHOR – Mike is a self-taught naturalist and career conservationist\, now born-again activist\, interested in UK wildlife since early childhood and grown up immersed in nature\, in the north east of England. Mike has worked with many environmental organisations over a 37-year career so far and has been the CEO of Northumberland Wildlife Trust for the last 15 years. In this time\, he has worked throughout the north of England and Scotland on all aspects of wildlife and nature conservation\, from wilding to red squirrels and water voles\, forestry and landscape scale projects. Mike’s particular focus is engaging people with nature and he gives talks\, writes and draws as a way to inspire and express the magic and wonder he feels in landscapes and seeing wildlife and to ignite interest and passion in others to protects and value our natural world. \nMike’s website Living Mindfully Wild is a site about the art of noticing nature’s wonder\, its’ patterns\, rhythms and observations of wildlife and places all around us when we stop to look. It stems from Mike’s slightly obsessive lifestyle working with and immersing himself in all things natural a lot of the time\, borne of a lifelong affinity with wild creatures\, particularly in the northern UK. \nBOOK DESCRIPTION: Infinite wonder is about an immersive journey into Nature exploring ‘the 5 Elements of Nature Wonder’\, from seasonality to serendipity\, with close encounters with wild things\, otters orca and the tiny life around us. It’s a celebration of the intrinsic wonder of wild places and things we still have despite the climate and biodiversity crises\, and is written as an antidote to anxiety and a practical way into allowing nature to heal us as we literally love nature back to full health. It’s a love letter to nature and the result of a 40+ years close work with nature and environment. \nSource: Living Mindfully Wild
