There are now many different net-zero and business for good memberships, pledges and accreditations available, but which is right for you?

These schemes are a great way of further demonstrating to your customers, stakeholders and employees your commitment to being a good business with sustainability at the core. The ability to display a certificate, pledge or badge will be a great way of reaching new customers and increasing your brand. Here is a highlight of a some that are available;

Environmental

SME Climate HubBy committing to reduce your emissions through the SME Climate Hub, you will be counted in the United Nation’s Race to Zero campaign. Partner with thousands of businesses and governments globally to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

The SME Climate Hub is a global initiative that empowers small to medium sized companies to take climate action and build resilient businesses for the future. A Free commitment aimed at SME’s

Committing is simple, pledge to act by completing the commitment to halve emissions by 2030, achieve net zero by 2050, and report on your progress yearly.

Exponential Roadmap – is for innovative, transformative and disruptive companies and organisations taking action in line with 1.5°C, with the mission to halve greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 through exponential climate action and solutions. Since ERI is an accredited partner of the United Nations’ Race To Zero (RTZ) campaign, companies joining ERI automatically become members of Race to Zero. ERI members endorse the 1.5°C Business Playbook, committing and taking action to halve their own- and value chain emissions before 2030 towards net-zero, integrating climate into business strategy and influencing climate action in society towards global net zero.

Science Based Target Initiative – The SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard is the world’s first framework for corporate net-zero target setting in line with climate science. It includes the guidance, criteria, and recommendations companies need to set science-based net-zero targets consistent with limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C. A paid for service – historically aimed at corporate businesses.

Business Declares – Raise awareness across the business sector of the imperative to accelerate action to address climate change, biodiversity loss and social injustice.

They celebrate all companies who declare. They are part of a coalition of the willing looking to collaborate and accelerate action. Free to join

Business for good

B-Corp – B Lab is the non-profit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. A paid for global certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance.

Good Business Charter – A simple accreditation for UK businesses in recognition for responsible business practices, measuring behaviour over 10 components: real living wage, fairer hours and contracts, employee well-being, employee representation, diversity and inclusion, environmental responsibility, paying far tax, commitment to customers, ethical sourcing and prompt payment.

Better Business Act – A free to join coalition of businesses committed to transforming the way we do business, so that every company in the UK, whether big or small, takes ownership of its social and environmental impact.
