A science-based net-zero target is a greenhouse gas reduction commitment aligned to the latest climate science — specifically the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) sets the methodology used by businesses to validate these commitments.
Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions in a company’s value chain — from suppliers, business travel, employee commuting, and the use and disposal of products. For most UK SMEs, Scope 3 represents 70–80% of their total carbon footprint and is increasingly required by customers, investors and regulators.
