On January 27, 2026, at 15:30, the University of East Anglia (UEA) is offering a site visit to the Lasdun Wall. This event targets individuals keen on business sustainability and net-zero initiatives, highlighting the impressive refurbishment of an architectural icon.

Participants will enjoy an exclusive tour of the Lasdun Wall, a Grade II listed building built in the 1960s. This refurbishment project stands out as the largest single extension to a post-war listed building in the UK, merging heritage preservation with modern sustainable design practices.

A four-phase refurbishment plan is in place to create cutting-edge science facilities and teaching spaces. This initiative will help UEA achieve its net-zero objectives by incorporating:

  • Advanced construction methods
  • Principles of the circular economy

Additionally, the project aims to create local jobs and apprenticeships, reinforcing UEA’s dedication to its community.

The site visit agenda includes:

  1. A safety briefing
  2. A site tour
  3. A presentation detailing the project’s background and progress
  4. A chance for questions and discussions over refreshments

Participants must be over 18 years old and should wear personal protective equipment, including a hard hat and steel-toe cap boots.

This free event allows CIOB members to earn 2 CPD points by reflecting on the ethical dimensions of their learning. Spaces are limited, so registering in advance is essential. For those driving, parking will be available at UEA, with further instructions provided before the event.
