What is the Big Walk and Wheel?

The Big Walk and Wheel 2025 (formerly The Big Pedal) is the UK’s largest inter-school challenge focused on promoting sustainable travel among students, teachers, and families. This engaging initiative is organized by Sustrans, the UK’s leading walking and cycling charity.

For 10 days, schools across the country will compete by tracking the number of students who choose active travel methods such as walking, cycling, or scooting to school.

2025 Theme: “Amazing Journeys”

This year’s theme, “Amazing Journeys,” inspires students to see their local surroundings with fresh eyes. The campaign is inclusive, ensuring all students can participate — including those learning remotely or with mobility considerations.
