Zero Waste Week 2025
Zero Waste Week 2025 runs from Monday, 1 September to Friday, 5 September 2025, marking the first full week of September—the campaign’s traditional annual window
This award-winning grass-roots awareness campaign, founded by Rachelle Strauss in 2008, inspires individuals, businesses, schools, universities, and community groups to actively reduce landfill waste, save money, preserve natural resources, and participate in the circular economy. Since its inception, it has grown into a global movement, with participants from dozens of countries worldwide.
How it works: Engage through online and in‑person activities, such as conducting a waste audit, reducing food waste, re‑using packaging, or hosting local workshops, clean‑ups, or creative upcycling events It’s simple—mark the first week of September, set a personal or group goal for waste reduction, take action, have fun, and share the successes using the #ZeroWasteWeek
This grassroots initiative emphasizes that what we throw away doesn’t just vanish—it becomes someone else’s waste or environmental burden. Zero Waste Week invites everyone to reflect on waste as a lifecycle impact and acts as a catalyst for meaningful behavioral change.
